The files needed to reproduce all the results of the paper are:
i) data_BFS_china.dta, ii) table_descr.do and iii) table_reg.do

i) data_BFS_china.dta is the dataset used for the decriptive and empirical analysis.
It merges firm-level variables from the Bank of Italy Survey on Investment (SIM) and the Company Account Data Service
(CADS) with Italian sectoral trade and turnover data from the Italian National Statistical Institute (Istat) and US sectoral trade
and turnover data from Peter K. Schott's website (http://faculty.som.yale.edu/peterschott/sub_international.htm).
Other data are taken from Khandelwal (2010) and EU-KLEMS.
Firm-level variables from SIM have a "v" suffix, while those from CADS have a "cb" suffix.
All the others firm-level variables are built as combinations of original variables.

ii) Run table_descr.do to derive Table 1 in the main text and Table A1 in the Appendix. The decriptive sectoral figures
in Table A2 in the Appendix are instead entered manually on the basis of data from Khandelwal (2010) and
EU-KLEMS.

iii) Run table_reg.do to derive all the regression tables (Tables 2-7).

=================================================

The procedure to run the .do files is as follows:
a) Write an email to any of the authors (matteo.bugamelli@bancaditalia.it - silvia.fabiani@bancaitalia.it - enrico.sette@bancaditalia.it)
saying you want to replicate the results of the paper "The Age of the Dragon: The Effects of Imports from China on Firm-Level Prices".

b) After the system will record you as an authorized user, you will receive a username and a password (the system will register you with the email address you used in the previous step)

c) Copy the .do files you want to run in a .txt file, adding at the beginning the following lines:

* userid     = userid
* password   = password
* project    = invind
* package    = stata

****Dont forget the asterisks****

d) Send an email with the .txt file at bird@bancaditalia.it
****Remember to include just one program in a single email.****

e) The system will send you back an e-mail with the results you asked for. Please be aware that for confidentiality reasons the system will block any command that may bring you to the identification of a single firm.

For any questions regarding the system, as well as to signal any problem, please use the email address bird_assist@bancaditalia.it.
For any program you will submit, the corresponding output will be sent back after being checked.
For any detail concerning the system and the available datasets, an extensive documentation is available on the Bank of Italys web site at the following address:
