*** PANEL INFLATED ORDERED PROBIT README FILE FOR PAPER: IDENTIFYING PRICE REVIEWS: AN ECONOMETRIC APPROACH; JOURNAL OF MONEY, CREDIT AND BANKING ***
*** BY HARRIS, LE BIHAN SEVESTRE.
*** JUNE 2019
*** THIS IS THE 'README FILE' FOR REPLICATION FILES OF THE ESTIMATIONS: SECTION 5 OF PAPER

This is a readme file for the attached iop_RE_sim.prc, hitmiss.prc and JMCB_R1_main_program_cml.e files, which will replicate the main empirical results in the paper:
Journal of Money Credit and Banking (2018); “Identifying Price Reviews by Firms: An Econometric Approach”; M. Harris, H. Le Bihan and P. Sevestre.

All files are written in the Gauss programming langage, utilising the CML add-in module: https://www.aptech.com/

Files iop_RE_sim.prc and hitmiss.prc are procedure files, not for editing, that respectively estimate all of the Inflated Ordered Probit, and related, models.

The file JMCB_R1_main_program_cml.e is the main file, to be edited for different application, which reads the data file in, selects the dependent variable and covariate variables for the model, and calls the procedure file(s)
to estimate the requested models (see below).

Users should change the names and directories of any datafiles and where the procedures files are stored, in addition to variable names for different applications.

To request different model variants, the user should change the appropriate model on line 388 (let model = iopc_REfull;); and for panel variants, the number of Halton draws can be varied on line 422 (M = 500;).

Users using this code should reference the above paper.

Further information on the gauss codes and how to use them, can be obtained from Mark Harris (mark.harris@curtin.edu.au or mnharris0401@gmail.com)
